There’s a moment when you talk about someone in “is” present tense…and realize it has changed to the past tense “was.” Infinite Sorrow. David Bowie to me is/was a genius. I might be a “Millennial /Generation Y,” or whatever you want to call it… But I do not over use the word Genius. Let alone the word Artist. My heart broke in shock to a sea of tears for almost 24 hours… All I could talk about was David Bowie. I’m still in shock by this news.
My first memories of David Bowie were as the Goblin King Jareth in Jim Henson’s film Labyrinth. And his new wave pop album “Let’s Dance.” Inspired. He is/was a new form of art. He looked different and I love it. I wanted to sing like him and dress like him. He is/was magical. In short, people like David Bowie should never die. With that being said his visionary work in music, film, fashion and more will never die. It’s just hard to realize that he’s not going to tour or create anything anymore in this life time. That excitement of what’s next…is gone… Black Star was a parting gift. The show is over. The curtain is closed.
I could write more about how much David Bowie meant to me… but I’m still to fragile to continue writing of him in a the past tense.
“I don't know where I'm going from here, but I promise it won't be boring.” -David Bowie
“I always had a repulsive need to be something more than human. I felt very puny as a human. I thought, "Fuck that. I want to be a superhuman.”
-David Bowie

“I'm not a prophet or a stone aged man, just a mortal with potential of a superman. I'm living on.” -David Bowie

“I'm an instant star. Just add water and stir.”
-David Bowie

I love you David Bowie. Thank You.
XO
