//ART// WHITE...OUT...PLEASE DO NOT ENTER...

(photos taken via my iPhone 6)

French artist Vincent Lamouroux transformed Siver Lake's deserted and derelict Sunset Pacific Motel aka delict ...The Bates Motel... into a temporary over all cool art installation.
 He used a water-soluble whitewash—no, it’s not actually paint. It's eco friendly...
no damaged to the palm trees... That was my first concern when I drove by last week and saw white palms...
Let's just say... if the white wash would have had any damaging effect there would have been more of a protest against the installation than praise. It's California after... don't mess with mother nature. LOL

The projection / installation remain until May 10th 2015.

EVERYDAY IS EARTHDAY WITH ALEX THE BEAR...

(Alex the Bear enjoying his Californian Friendly Garden)

California is under a severe water drought. We are beyond lucky to live in a country where water is for the most part clean. Water has always been more valuable than money... It saddens me our careless we humans have treated mother earth. With oil spills, over all pollution, trash and careless waste... Its time to step up it. MORE.
Or we will die. Huge parts of the world are already dying from pollution based illness ....of the lack of clean water and beyond. From India... to closer to home like Latin America to parts of the US where nuclear waste has made once thriving towns into ghost towns... Pitcher, Oklahoma...

Please don't close your eyes to what's happening, has been happing to our planet.
Do something about it. Everyday is earth day.

If you love gardening or not... these Californian native plants are low water maintenance. These plants can thrive and are also very beautiful.

 Some of my favorites:
(these 2 shrubs attract humming birds )

For more home and gardening ideas go here

Make sure you have highly efficient washer and toilets...they waste gallons of extra water if not up to date. Bonus... State programs are available to help you with your drought resistant garden to plumming issues their are water saver rebates. Available for private home and commercial.
SAVE MONEY AND WATER.

Here are a few EASY ways you can save water....

GO PAPERLESS
from bills to newspaper etc...

EAT LESS MEAT
Estimates range from 1,800 to 8,400 gallons of water needed to produce a single pound of beef.
Beef need waaaaay more water than any other animal... Good thing I already don't eat beef.

DON'T WASTE FOOD
 AND COMPOST
Granted it takes water to make/grow food... but if you waste it... it's wasted water.
Composting Food Remands
here are commercial for restaurants, caterers, hotels.... check it out here

Backyard Composting :)
Your best bet is a worm composter, which is a fairly small container (about, 2’ X 18” X 18”)  in which you put earthworms and compostable material, i.e., food waste, and let the worms eat, digest, and excrete it as tiny, soil-like chunks politely known as “worm castings.” These composting devices are so sensible that, in my opinion, they should be considered standard household equipment, like your washing machine, stove, or sink.
Also there are workshops available throughout California and other States where they teach you everything about composting. :)

DENIM
(READ LABELS)
I have not purchased new pair jeans in years... for the reason of style... I'm not a jean and tee kinda girl... and I love denim naturally distressing from use.
Plus...It takes about 3,000 gallons of water for a single pair of jeans... Oh my...
California is the denim capital, its hard to write this since I used design denim many moons ago... and got burnt out of denim.
It's still ideal to buy made-in-the-USA, so look for labels mentioning a recycled- or low-water process denim styles.

TELECOMMUNITE
I do!!!
I work from home when ever possible... though I drive a lot still from set to set... at times...but I still drive less then when I was a corporate designer. I tend to have meetings via FaceTime and or Skype. Communicate via emails and calls... I work with people in different cities...so I've gotten used to telecommuting it saves lots of money on gas which a gallon of gas can take multiple gallons of water to produce.

SO MANY LITTLE WAYS TO CHANGE THE WORLD.
