There’s a moment when you talk about someone in “is” present tense…and realize it has changed to the past tense “was.” Infinite Sorrow. David Bowie to me is/was a genius. I might be a “Millennial /Generation Y,” or whatever you want to call it… But I do not over use the word Genius. Let alone the word Artist. My heart broke in shock to a sea of tears for almost 24 hours… All I could talk about was David Bowie. I’m still in shock by this news.
My first memories of David Bowie were as the Goblin King Jareth in Jim Henson’s film Labyrinth. And his new wave pop album “Let’s Dance.” Inspired. He is/was a new form of art. He looked different and I love it. I wanted to sing like him and dress like him. He is/was magical. In short, people like David Bowie should never die. With that being said his visionary work in music, film, fashion and more will never die. It’s just hard to realize that he’s not going to tour or create anything anymore in this life time. That excitement of what’s next…is gone… Black Star was a parting gift. The show is over. The curtain is closed.
I could write more about how much David Bowie meant to me… but I’m still to fragile to continue writing of him in a the past tense.
“I don't know where I'm going from here, but I promise it won't be boring.” -David Bowie
“I always had a repulsive need to be something more than human. I felt very puny as a human. I thought, "Fuck that. I want to be a superhuman.”
-David Bowie

“I'm not a prophet or a stone aged man, just a mortal with potential of a superman. I'm living on.” -David Bowie

“I'm an instant star. Just add water and stir.”
-David Bowie

I love you David Bowie. Thank You.
XO

//FASHION ART// BERNHARD WILLHELM 3000: WHEN FASHION SHOWS THE DANGER THEN FASHION IS THE DANGER

Painter/ Graffiti Artist/ Designer..... and friend of mine.... Malcolm Stuart collaborated in Berhard Willhelm's exhibition by spraying the exhibition leaving only the silhouettes behind.
Artist: Bernhard Willhelm and his muses/models
(This last photo of me being silly with my friend Gabe de Dios, signifies my overall reaction to Berhard Wilhelm 300 art/ fashion exhibition at Moca's Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood.
Just having fun with art and fashion.)

The multimedia exhibition is congested. From an overload of; imagery and video, bold color, the sound of a bell, and even the smell of fresh paint. My sense were alert. The opening got so crowded at a certain point that my other two senses joined the rest of my senses with touch and the taste of wine. My five senses were united.

When Fashion Shows The Danger Then Fashion Is The Danger
The title of the exhibition is still puzzling to me... where is the danger?
Is the bird the danger... the Japanese kimono / straitjacket tops and dresses or the novelty chilly embellished jacket and spicy color palette clothes, or perhaps the models (oversized artist dummy with glowing heads) with their pacifiers/tongue ring making a can not speak in fashion theme?, maybe dangerous even deadly spice? Or is it the giant S/M blow up dolls and paddles or the dangers of hairspray and body balm... that was carefully displayed on the tables?
Is the danger all of it...trends; the hypes of more and more and new and new....
There are a lot of themes here.
Consumer Dystopia...The evolution of Man is a main theme, from bird to man...man to bird...fashion  as uniform... uniform as fashion...survival? Is Berhard Willhelm making a statement of a fashion consumer will become more of a dystopia in the 22nd century?
Lots of Questions.

For now let's never play it safe...and have Fun.

//A DANCE STUDY// RAG & BONE MEN'S FW15 FEAT. MIKHAIL BARYSHNIKOV AND LIL BUCK

RAG AND BONE F/W 15
Men's Collection
A DANCE STUDY
Fashion and Dance have always worked together from costumes to ballet performances to stage to music videos to dance party at your house. Everyone has at least one dance outfit, and if they don't... they should. Dancing is an art... a form of expression just like fashion is...
The short film captures the dancers busting their moves as well as seamlessly showcasing the latest Rag and Bone Men's Fall -Winter 2015 collection. This collaboration came to me as a completely and unexpected but very exciting surprise. To witness this dance study of two different styles and dance backgrounds. Dancing together in great everyday chic clothes.
The legendary Russian; ballet dancer and choreographer but really he's more... I mean he's an icon there's nothing he can't do... Mr. Mikhail Baryshnikov. He dances with the ultra smooth street dancer Lil Buck a California based dancer who calls his dance form "jookin." Check out the collections film... its a lovely treat.
 Bravo Rag and Bone

//RUNWAY// MODERN FAIRY- LONDON SPRING COLLECTION PARTY LOOKS

(runway photos source by Style.com)

MODERN FAIRY
7 days of Partying
Oh London fashion week... what magic was showcased down the runway for this coming spring 2015. From laser-cut motifs to 3D flower appliqués and texture to touches of sheer goodness patchwork lace... and of course the hologram glitter bring glitter to the future.
The silhouettes are structured with playful textures and panelling but with a sense of playfulness, it's exactly what one thinks of a fairy but a modern day one.
Let the magic begin... the world needs a little more sparkle and playfulness.
Let's fly and sparkle.

//RUNWAY// MY BEST OF NEW YORK FASHION WEEK SPRING 2015

 Downtown Chic Gypsy...Oh Milly....
I just love this whole collection. I want everything from this collection, it's grown-up street wear with a delicate feminine touch. Classic Milly silhouette but with amazing color and texture and styling... just won me over. I rarely say I would wear straight up runway look, since I love mixing and playing... plus I'm a stylist but this collection is head to toe styled for me. LoL
Tech Minimal Pop
Opening Ceremony is one of my favorite boutiques to date. I wonder if I would ever design a capsule for them would I get a discount?. #dreamdesignjob #collabsplease
This collection, I am calling tech minimal pop because that's exactly what it is to me... It look like blown up computer parts/ elements with minimal structure silhouettes in bubble gum pink. My favorite piece is the women computer dots rendering print pullover.
Cyber Pop Punk
The british influence definitely shows... starting with the chelsea combat wellies boots in pop colors.
Plus, british designer Luella Bartley is one of the new creative and design directors for Marc by Marc Jacobs along side fellow brit Katie Hillier. Her beloved line has been missed... by many including yours truly. Was super excited when she started designing for the brand just last year.
Cyber Pop Punk is what I am calling this collection, the latex leggings and the bra tops are powerful statement of cyber punk. Tough Sexy but in pop pastel colors vs. the head to toe scales of blacks usually found in the genre of cyber punk films and comics novels.
Pretty Mod Sportswear
Why can't sports wear be lovely and flirty... Cynthia Rowley captured the two major continuation  tends in my book. 60's Mod and Sportwear Luxe Classic. The shift dresses with athletic touches = a comfortable Spring and Summer 2015 with Cynthia. Cheers to that.
Structor Fantasy
Delpozo has been one of my favorite new lines which it debut last year... Josep Font knows how to capture fantasy in clothing... structured pieces in couture fabrics with dreamy story-book color pallette and motifs. The spring / summer just got prettier.
Honor
Pretty In Mod
Just pretty in Mod silhouettes like shift dresses, structured jackets with baroque prints... keeping it very 60's Chelsea babes listening to the Yardbirds. Blue cat eye-shadow... um yes!! and to top it off lovely pearl descent flats. Let's do the modern twist.
Hand Made Structure Luxe
Classic silhouettes with a home knit touch... expect with edgy pieces made out of woven leather.
Can we talk about the fringe... I love fringe maybe it's because I'm latina and love dancing... fringe just dances with you even if your just walking. Fun.

(photos source from NY Mag and Style.com)
Style.com change the over look of viewing the runways collection this season. Thank you.
Though I still source other channels for more coverage since, Style still caters to the masses of brands… leaving a lot of new comers and rebel out of the fashion bubble of style.com. In all fairness they have started adding more and more designers to the coverage circle including MFA programs fashion schools from NYC… but still fall short… the timeline are getting more crazy with shows overlapping each other…. is Style.com…. under-staffed? I wont not be surprised if they are. So my question is import a freelancer fashion writer from LA with fresh eyes… Me.
Over I still love the look off The Cut New York’s magazine… they cover everything New York as except so cheers to you.

I’m excited about London fashion week… even though I have not yet attended a fashion in the ultra cool London. It’s always ends up being my favorite fashion capitals.London can we be best friends.

//EXHIBITIONS// A JOURNEY OF A DRESS BY DVF

EL LOOK
MOD PLAY
(Vintage Color Block Shift Dress, Faubourg Du Temple Sheer Bomber jacket, JC patent leather flats)

LACMA: DVF JOURNEY OF A DRESS
Congrats to Diane Von Furstenber for 40 years to creating the infamous "wrap dress" which is very flattering on most body types. Loved seeing Diane's portraits throughout the years, especially the series by one of my favorites... Mr. Andy Warhol. Left me wishing... to have been captured by the pop art icon himself and to have my own room of full of Warhols. How grand that would have been...The Latina Edie...LOL
The exhibition opens up to 40 years of textile prints... the walls and floors covered in prints which as a creative I enjoyed the most out of the presentation.
I just love how well it was curated it was personal, tribute but FUN.
If your in L.A. check it out exhibition runs until April 1, 2014.
